Ways To Keep Your Disney Vacation Magical – Part 1

Ways To Keep Your Disney Vacation Magical

Part 1

Planning a Disney vacation can be very overwhelming. There are a numerous things to take into consideration, and because of that there can also be a great deal of pressure. If you’re new to planning a Disney vacation, here are some easy ways to help plan your dream vacation.

Be Realistic

Have realistic expectations when at Disney. It will be busy. There are always crowds at Disney, lots of strollers, crying children, and long lines. But it’s okay, because you’re in Disney and these things won’t stop you from having a magical time, especially if you can just accept these things are part of Disney, and they don’t have to ruin your vacation.

Check Height Requirements

Before you make your FastPass+ selections, check the height requirements for the attractions you want to ride and then measure the children in your family. It’s very disappointing to book a FastPass+ for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train only to arrive and discover that not everyone in your party meets the 38-inch minimum height requirement. In order to avoid disappointment, check the height requirements online first. You will feel prepared, and you can book a FastPass+ that will allow everyone to ride the attractions.

Make Reservations

Dining at Disney is a big part of a Disney vacation experience, and people plan far in advance. Dining reservations can be made 180 days in advance and it’s worth making reservations this early, especially if you want to visit popular restaurants, such as Chef Mickey’s or Cinderella’s Royal Table. It can be difficult to walk up to a restaurant at Disney and be seated, so make reservations.  They key is planning ahead.

Disney World Opens Pandora The World of Avitar

Walt Disney World Opens

Pandora – The World of Avatar

Pandora – The World of Avatar officially opened to guests on May 27 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World.  The opening of this new, hugh land made history for Disney’s Animal Kingdom as the largest themed opening since the park first opened in 1998.  This new opening saw some of the highest attendance for the park with Disney creating additional bus loops to accommodate all of the traffic.  Disney even had cast members park at other locations around Walt Disney World in order to free up the cast parking lot to accommodate the amount of guests visiting Animal Kingdom.  The land was close to capacity throughout the day with Disney cast members managing the entrance to the land to ensure that it didn’t get over capacity.  The two new attractions saw 4 hour wait times throughout the day!!!

The opening of Pandora introduced a lot of great new Avatar themed experiences. There are two new attractions.  Guests are able to sail down the mystical river to encounter a Na’vi shaman at Na’vi River Journey, or get the opportunity to soar over Pandora on the back of a mountain banshee at Avatar Flight of Passage.  Very exciting for Animal Kingdom!!

Have you visited Pandora?  If so, what do you think?

Food

The main dining option is Satu’li Canteen. It’s quick service dining, with the option of ordering from the My Disney Experience App. The Cast Members here (and in all of Pandora) are said to be extremely friendly. One of the main menu options at Satu’li Canteen allows you to create your own bowl. You pick a protein, a base, and a sauce. It comes with slaw on top.  If you have special dietary requests, ask to see the allergy-friendly menu; you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

DAK-Entrance

Next door to Satu’li Canteen is a beverage spot called Pongu Pongu. It includes both alcoholic and non-alcoholic specialties, plus some interesting ale choices. Also served are snacks called Pongu Lumpia, which are pineapple cream cheese spring rolls.

Shopping

There is one main store at Pandora. Flight of Passage empties into Windtraders, and there is also another entrance. It features souvenirs that you’ll find in most stores such as T-shirts and mugs, plus a couple of unusual selections. Guests can have an Avatar likeness made.  Accessories are also available for an additional cost. You can also purchase a banshee that will sit on your shoulder. Several Cast Members were seen with a banshee so chances are that this is going to become a quite popular item. There are other unique merchandise, including drums and Avatar tails. There is also an outdoor kiosk that sells some souvenirs.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere may be the best part of Pandora – The World of Avatar. Guests can honestly forgot that they are at Disney’s Animal Kingdom while there. The rest of the park is not visible from the new world. From the floating mountains to the unusual plant “life” to the waterfalls, it’s an incredible experience. Kids will love playing in the circle of drums, and parents might want to join in. The whole area is breathtakingly beautiful. It doesn’t matter if you’ve seen Avatar or not, you will want to stop by.

Pandora the World of Avatar Part 1

Pandora the World of Avatar

Part 1

Pandora – The World of Avatar located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom has officially been dedicated. The ceremony was held on May 24, 2017. Celebrities included in the festivities were Bob Iger and James Cameron. A short procession started things off, and after the dedication was officially over there was a drum ceremony was held in the new land.

Here is a little information about Walt Disney World’s newest land, Pandora The World of Avatar.

Rides

There are two new rides in Pandora. The more popular of the two and the one everyone is talking about is Avatar Flight of Passage. It’s a 3D motion simulator ride that’s been described as a “combination of Soarin’ and Star Tours”.  That’s about as close a description as possible if you’re looking to compare it to other rides. You’ll link your mind with an Avatar and then ride on the back of a banshee. Eight people ride across, each on their own motorcycle-type vehicle. The seat itself is a little bit awkward, you lean forward and you’re locked in from behind. They’re not the most comfortable seats ever, but they do put you into the right position so that you can best feel as if you are flying.

The second new ride is Na’vi River Journey. It’s a slow moving boat ride that is relaxing and beautiful. It’s been described as a cross between It’s a Small World and Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros. It’s not really like either of those two rides, but more of a gentle boat ride that uses screens to help create the journey. The scenery is stunning. You do truly feel as if you’re riding through another world. The Na’vi Shaman of Songs at the end is an extremely well done Audio-Animatronic figure.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT DISNEY SPRINGS PART 3

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT DISNEY SPRINGS PART 3

Disney Springs is incredible, and it keeps getting better and better. The district has close to twice as many choices as it did when it was Downtown Disney, and they are not finished adding restaurants and entertainment yet! Parking is quite a bit easier than it was a few years ago, there are now two garages and a third one is planned. In a day and age where prices seem to keep rising, parking at Disney Springs remains free. If you haven’t stopped by Disney Springs lately, make it a part of your next Walt Disney World vacation. You will probably keep going back.

Casual Sit Down Meals

If you have heard anything about Disney Springs, it probably included all of the fine dining options. While those are fantastic, there are also some great casual places for a meal. You can dine with the dinosaurs, inside an observatory, in the middle of a rainforest, or while watching a movie. You can also travel around the world, with Irish, Italian, and Cuban classics, or try dishes from all of the Americas. If you’d rather stay close to home, try Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming. The celebrity chef was once a part of the Disney College Program, and he’s happy to bring his delicious creations back home.

Signature Dining

There are many different signature dining experiences at Disney Springs, enough to keep you coming back. The fine dining restaurants are all unique, and they take the word “experience” very seriously. You can enjoy fresh seafood, fine steak, Pan-Asian specialties, and Californian cuisine. Some of the signature restaurants are associated with celebrity chefs, and the results are spectacular. Disney Springs is not yet finished, so even more signature dining is on the way. You can relax with a fine meal, enjoy a decadent dessert, and sip a signature cocktail. The rush and bustle of the theme parks will feel like a distant memory.

Shopping

There was always plenty of shopping at Downtown Disney, but Disney Springs takes it to a whole new level. There are now over 100 shopping choices. There are still classic Disney options such as World of Disney, Goofy’s Candy Company, and Once Upon a Toy. Newer places include well known names such as Vera Bradley, Sephora, and Francesca’s. One of the fun parts of Disney Springs is that there are many small kiosks where you’ll find everything from jewelry to dog accessories. Part of the fun of a Walt Disney World vacation is picking up souvenirs, and there are plenty to choose from at Disney Springs.

Quick Food Choices

If you want a snack or an affordable meal, there are plenty of choices at Disney Springs. You’ll find pretzels, cupcakes, food trucks, sausage, ice cream, vegan baked goods, and possibly the best burgers served at Walt Disney World. Thirsty? How about Starbucks, smoothies, Coke products, margaritas, or maybe moonshine? Some of the full service restaurants have walk up windows, which you might want to consider if you couldn’t get a reservation. If you’re hungry, in a hurry, and close to your credit limit, there are two restaurants that you might want to consider. Earl of Sandwich has been around for years, while Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza is a more recent addition. The lines might be long for either choice, but they move quickly.

Atmosphere

With all four lands at Disney Springs now open, it feels more like a real town than it did when it was Downtown Disney. True, it’s a town filled with over 150 shops and restaurants, but the theme makes it worth the trip. Parts of it are beautiful. Marketplace and West Side still have the same basic feel. The Landing has a more upscale tone than the area did before, and the water is incorporated into the theme. The most unique area of Disney Springs is Town Center. With Spanish architecture, you might not feel like you are still at Walt Disney World. There are some great picture opportunities, and sometimes PhotoPass photographers are on hand. If you can, visit Town Center first thing in the morning. It will be less crowded so you can take more pictures, and you’ll miss the heat of the day.

Entertainment

There are times the family would like to take a day off from the theme parks, but yet everyone still would like to be entertained.  Sleep in, then head to Disney Springs! You can see a movie, bowl, take a balloon ride, participate in a dance party, watch a local band, attend a concert, and much more. Disney Springs may be known for shopping and dining, but there are plenty of entertainment options as well. There is always something going on.  If you have not been there, make it part of your Disney trip!!

Tips About Bay Lake Tower Part 2

Did You Know These Tips About Bay Lake Tower At Disney’s Contemporary Resort Part 2

Disney Bay Lake Tower

Pirates & Pageants & Fireworks, Oh My!

For an unforgettable evening of fireworks and fun, you’ll want to bring your whole family on the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage.  You’ll be treated to snacks and beverages before setting sail.  During your cruise of the Seven Seas Lagoon, your captain will test your Disney knowledge, regale you with pirate tales, and will have you singing sea chanteys in no time.  There’s no closer view of the Electrical Water Pageant, but even that is nothing compared to seeing the sky explode in fireworks over Cinderella Castle!  There’s even a surprise visitor waiting for you once you arrive back at the resort.  We can’t think of a more entertaining way to experience the magic of Disney at night!

Exclusive Viewing Areas

For even more exclusive fireworks viewing, try the Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower.  It’s an excellent place for after-dinner snacks and drinks, not to mention the stunning, panoramic, roof-top view of the resort and Magic Kingdom, ideal for firework viewing.  However, access to the Top of the World Lounge is restricted to Disney Vacation Club Members staying at any resort on property.  If you’re not a DVC member, and you’re not able to wrangle an invite from someone who is, don’t despair!  You’ll also get excellent views of Bay Lake and Magic Kingdom from the Sky Bridge, on the 5th floor of Bay Lake Tower.  You’ll be able to view and photograph fireworks without braving the crowds in the park, and no DVC membership is needed.  If you are staying at Bay Lake Tower and are lucky enough to have a room facing the Magic Kingdom, your balcony is the greatest area to view the Fireworks Show!

Frozen Fun on Floor Four

If you’re lucky enough to stay at Bay Lake Tower during the holiday season, you’re in for a real treat.  Head to the fourth floor of the Contemporary Resort to enjoy the massive, Frozen-themed gingerbread display right across from the Fantasia store.  This one is all about the treats.  Of course, Anna, Elsa and all their friends are here on display (including a special side display of Olaf in his summer fun sandcastle) but the specially-made Frozen-themed desserts are absolutely to die for.  My personal favorite?  The blue raspberry cake gelato.  It might be one of the best desserts on property, and this is from someone who has tried almost all of them!  The s’mores cup is also very tasty, and if you are in a cookie mood, the chocolate peppermint cookie was also delightful.  It’s a great way to indulge in the magic of the season just steps away from your room.

Tips About Bay Lake Tower

Did You Know These Tips About Bay Lake Tower At Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Disney Bay Lake Tower

Location, Location, Location

It’s hard to beat Disney’s Bay Lake Tower for location, specifically because it is so close to the Magic Kingdom.  The usual bus service available at all Disney resorts is an option for guests staying here, but it’s not necessarily your best option.  You may already be aware that the monorail runs directly through the Contemporary Resort, which is connected to Bay Lake Tower, making it easy to hop on a train and get to the Magic Kingdom.  But did you know that there an even better way of travelling from Bay Lake Tower to Disney’s flagship theme park (and that’s not including the standard buses offered at every Disney resort)?  It’s actually possible to walk, and the good news is that it only takes approximately ten minutes (and no waiting in line required)!  This is especially beneficial for families with young kids who will be spending most of their time in this park; you really can’t get much closer to the action than Bay Lake Tower!

Coveted Views

While many guests dismiss this resort because it doesn’t have the whimsical theming of, say, Animal Kingdom Lodge or Art of Animation, the views from this resort are truly beautiful.  Rooms with lake views have the most peaceful views on property.  The Electrical Water Pageant can be seen sailing along Bay Lake, if you have a lake or MK view.  Magic Kingdom view rooms obviously have additional appeal, especially for families with young children, and these views are among the best Magic Kingdom views of any of the resorts on the monorail.  Resort guests can watch the Fireworks Show from their balconies.  Turn your television to the resort station, and you’ll be able to hear the music while watching nightly fireworks over Cinderella Castle.  From personal experience, there is nothing like it!!  Guests and vacation club members may also go to the Top of Bay Lake Tower to watch the fireworks.

Disney Happily Ever After

More Than Meets the Eye

Along with the amenities and activities you’d expect at any Disney resort, Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort offers some additional opportunities you won’t find at other resorts.  Twice a week, you can begin your day with an early morning yoga class (for all ages/ability levels) under the Skyway Bridge.  Mats are provided, and it’s a stress-free start to a fun-filled day.  If you’re in the mood for more relaxation, you can rent a private, poolside cabana for the day, half a day, or an evening. Standard cabanas with amenities can be reserved and include furniture, electronics and refreshments.  Amenities include furniture, electronics (such as cable tv and phone) and refreshments.  And the fun doesn’t end there.  Bay Lake Tower offers volleyball, fishing, jogging trails, tennis, motorized boat rentals, and a community hall with games and DVDs for rainy days.

If you ever want to chat about Disney, come over to Goldwiser in Old Town Spring.  We are open from 10 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday and located at 1122 Spring Cypress Rd., Spring, TX 77373.  Let’s talk some Disney World! Walt Disney World’s New Fireworks Show “Happily Ever After”

Walt Disney World’s New Fireworks Show “Happily Ever After”

The newest fireworks show, Happily Ever After, debuted at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World on Friday, May 12, 2017.  This new show replaced Wishes, which had a 14 year run at the park.  Disney Parks Blog held a live stream of the show for guests to be a part of the big debut.  If you missed it, have no fear, as you can still catch the video online so that you can see what everyone has been talking about.

This new nighttime spectacular is presented by PANDORA jewelry and appears to have captivated guests so far.  It is the 3rd firework show to be presented in the history of the park, excluding the themed holiday shows.  Magic Kingdom was jam packed with guests there for the debut and the crowds are expected to return throughout the weekend with the park possibly closing to capacity in the evening.  It has been described as the 4th of July level of crowds.

Disney also confirmed that that Halloween and Christmas fireworks will be performed as normal this year, but with the possibility that there will be changes next year, so it may be the last year you can see the versions as they are if you are a fan of those shows.

Have you watched the video?  What do you think of Happily Ever After?
