Disney In The Fall

Holiday Decorations

When it comes to decorations, Disney goes all out. That means that viewing the Halloween decorations in September/October and/or the Christmas decorations in early November/December are events in and of themselves. Obviously, Disney World holiday decoration viewing is an activity everyone should experience at least once, and fall is the time to do it.  My family and I have been there at the end of Fall decorations and beginning of the holiday decorations.  Nice to celebrate two holidays!

Holiday Parties

Not only are the parks decked out in holiday decor during the holiday season, but there are also some pretty great special events happening. For instance, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be in full swing during the months of September and October, meaning you can celebrate the creepiest of holidays with the friendliest of friends.

Prefer Christmas? Wait around until November and you can experience Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party, an event that is tons of fun for the entire family and will be remembered for years to come.

Food and Wine Festival

Another fantastic event that happens during the fall is Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival. This event is quite drawn out and includes temporary food carts that are set up throughout the World Showcase in Epcot to serve amazing dishes from around the world. Of course, the park is decorated to reflect the theme of the festival, and the whole place looks, feels, and tastes absolutely amazing.  Personally, we go there every year for the Food and Wine Festival.  The food is amazing!

Epcot Concert Series

Along with the Food and Wine Festival, Epcot hosts a super fun concert series called Eat to the Beat. This series features a variety of well known performers, and every concert is free with park admission. The concerts ususally last about 45 minutes to an hour and are given 3 times a day at 5:30 PM, 6:45 PM and 8:00 PM within the America Gardens Theatre at Epcot World Showcase. Clearly you will want to take advantage of this. Where else can you attend a concert for free?

My family and I have been to Disney many times in the Fall and we have absolutely had always had a great time!  If you have school age children and they cannot miss school, consider just visiting for a long weekend if you are able to manage the time off.

Reasons For Visiting Disney World Resort In The Fall – Part 1

Disney In The Fall

Most people visit Disney World during the summer, winter break, or spring break. This makes sense based on school schedules, but that might be the only real reason to visit during those times of year. The truth of the matter is that fall is quite possibly the best time to visit, and considering how much time, planning, and money all go into a Disney World vacation, taking a week off of school (or even a couple days) is totally worth ensuring you have wonderful vacation in Disney.

Why is fall the ideal time to be in the most magical place on earth? There are actually a number of reasons to choose to visit during the post-summer season. Consider these reasons below to get an idea of what I’m talking about.

Disney Bay Lake Tower

Room Discounts

One of the very best things about a Fall Disney vacation is that it is actually one of the slowest times of the year for the parks. Therefore, you can expect to see some discounts—including some pretty sweet room discounts—that can take a trip from completely unaffordable to a magically possible visit. That right there is reason enough to schedule a fall getaway.

 Free Dining

Room discounts not your thing? You could choose to take advantage of free dining instead. While the two can’t be combined, both are pretty awesome deals, and the free Dining Plan is perfect for those budget-conscious foodies who normally wouldn’t pay for lots of meals and snacks at Disney (even if they want to). Go ahead, schedule that fall trip and snack away! I certainly won’t judge.

Lower Crowds

Of course, the fact that fall is their slow season means that fewer people are in the parks. This is absolutely wonderful, as it means shorter waits, fewer traffic jams, and an altogether pleasant and less stressful time. In fact, you may even be able to sleep in a bit and skip rope drop, because these lower crowd levels mean “morning-length” lines all day long.

Great Weather

Florida is hot, hot, hot during the summer. The weather alone makes summer the worst month to visit Disney. Admittedly, I have visited there during the summer but I normally make sure we’re at the pool during the hottest part of the day and we visit Disney in the evening!  However, once fall rolls around the weather begins to cool down, and by the time Halloween arrives, everything is feeling mighty pleasant down in the Sunshine State.  Any yes, it is still possible to hang out at the pool or even the water parks!

My family and I have been to Disney many times in the Fall and we have absolutely had always had a great time!  If you have school age children and they cannot miss school, consider just visiting for a long weekend if you are able to manage the time off.

bullying

Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuseintimidate or aggressively dominate others. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception, by the bully or by others, of an imbalance of social or physical power, which distinguishes bullying from conflict.

Behaviors used to assert such domination can include verbal harassment or threat, physical assault or coercion, and such acts may be directed repeatedly towards particular targets. Rationalizations of such behavior sometimes include differences of social class, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, appearance, behavior, body language, personality, reputation, lineage, strength, size or ability. If bullying is done by a group, it is called mobbing.

Bullying can be defined in many different ways. The United Kingdom has no legal definition of bullying, while some states in the United States have laws against it.Bullying is divided into four basic types of abuse – emotional (sometimes called relational), verbalphysical, and cyber. It typically involves subtle methods of coercion, such as intimidation.

Bullying ranges from one-on-one, individual bullying through to group bullying called mobbing, in which the bully may have one or more “lieutenants” who may seem to be willing to assist the primary bully in his or her bullying activities. Bullying in school and the workplace is also referred to as peer abuse.Robert W. Fuller has analyzed bullying in the context of rankism.

bullying culture can develop in any context in which humans interact with each other. This includes school, family, the workplace, home, and neighborhoods. The main platform for bullying is on social media websites. In a 2012 study of male adolescent American football players, “the strongest predictor [of bullying] was the perception of whether the most influential male in a player’s life would approve of the bullying behavior”

Types

Individual bullying can be classified into four types. Collective bullying is known as mobbing, and can include any of the individual types of bullying.

Physical, verbal, and relational bullying are most prevalent in primary school and could also begin much earlier whilst continuing into later stages in individuals lives. It is stated that Cyber-bullying is more common in secondary school than in primary school.

Individual

Individual bullying tactics can be perpetrated by a single person against a target or targets.

Physical

This is any bullying that hurts someone’s body or damages their possessions. Stealing, shoving, hitting, fighting, and destroying property all are types of physical bullying. Physical bullying is rarely the first form of bullying that a target will experience. Often bullying will begin in a different form and later progress to physical violence. In physical bullying the main weapon the bully uses is their body when attacking their target. Sometimes groups of young adults will target and alienate a peer because of some adolescent prejudice. This can quickly lead to a situation where they are being taunted, tortured, and beaten-up by their classmates. Physical bullying will often escalate over time, and can lead to a tragic ending, and therefore must be stopped quickly to prevent any further escalation.

Verbal

This is any bullying that is conducted by speaking. Calling names, spreading rumors, threatening somebody, and making fun of others are all forms of verbal bullying. Verbal bullying is one of the most common types of bullying. In verbal bullying the main weapon the bully uses is their voice. In many cases, verbal bullying is the province of girls. Girls are more subtle (and can be more devastating), in general, than boys. Girls use verbal bullying, as well as social exclusion techniques, to dominate and control other individuals and show their superiority and power. However, there are also many boys with subtlety enough to use verbal techniques for domination, and who are practiced in using words when they want to avoid the trouble that can come with physically bullying someone else.

Relational

This is any bullying that is done with the intent to hurt somebody’s reputation or social standing which can also link in with the techniques included in physical and verbal bullying. Relational Bullying is a form of bullying common amongst youth, but particularly upon girls. Relational bullying can be used as a tool by bullies to both improve their social standing and control others. Unlike physical bullying which is obvious, relational bullying is not overt and can continue for a long time without being noticed.

Cyber-bullying

Cyber bullying is the use of technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. When an adult is involved, it may meet the definition of cyber-harassment or cyberstalking, a crime that can have legal consequences and involve jail time. This includes email, instant messaging, social networking sites (such as Facebook), text messages, and cell phones.

Collective

Collective bullying tactics are employed by more than one individual against a target or targets. Trolling behavior on social media, although generally assumed to be individual in nature by the casual reader, is sometime organized efforts by sponsored astroturfers.

Mobbing

Mobbing refers to the bullying of an individual by a group, in any context, such as a familypeer groupschoolworkplaceneighborhoodcommunity, or online. When it occurs as emotionalabuse in the workplace, such as “ganging up” by co-workers, subordinates or superiors, to force someone out of the workplace through rumorinnuendointimidationhumiliationdiscrediting, and isolation, it is also referred to as malicious, nonsexual, nonracial / racial, general harassment.

Disney World 101–Planning Your Vacation

Disney World 101–Planning Your Vacation

Disney World Castle and Balloons

Walt Disney World Resort is “the place where dreams come true”. You’ve probably heard that statement a million times before, but there’s a reason why everyone says it. And it’s a place that caters to serve almost every dream out there, too. In other words, no two trips are the same, and there are countless ways in which you can enjoy this magical place. But where do you start?

While Disney Vacation Planners are extremely helpful, it’s a good idea to at least do some planning yourself first before setting the wheels of your adventure in motion. From preparing an itinerary to becoming familiar with the resort map, it’s always best to “be prepared”. Don’t worry – this article has your “bare necessities” covered!

What Magic Awaits

Deciding on your target attractions and experiences isn’t something that’s best left until the moment you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort. After all, not only is the resort one of the busiest places on the planet, it’s all too easy to visit the Disney Parks and miss something completely. Perhaps you’ll forget to add it to your itinerary, or maybe you simply don’t know it exists!

Start your itinerary by checking to see what’s available on the official Walt Disney World Resort website. While of course you’ll have an idea of what you want to see and do, the resort is an ever-changing place. Knowing the ins and outs of your adventure will help determine all the other facets of your trip, too, from the length of your stay to what tickets you’ll need.

How the Resort is Laid Out

Understanding how the Walt Disney World Resorts are laid out might not seem that important, but it’s actually more helpful than you realize. For starters, it could help you decide which Disney Resort Hotel is best for you, and will even influence your itinerary. Think of it as a treasure map – just one with countless “X’s” that mark the spots!

In a nutshell, the resort is home to four theme parks, two water parks and the entertainment district Disney Springs, as well as over 25 Disney Resort Hotels. There’s a transportation network to help you out, though, which includes the Walt Disney World Monorail, Disney Bus Transportation and Water Transportation. And then there’s the My Disney Experience app, which will help you navigate as you go.

How to Enhance & Maximize the Magic

There are many forms of magic available to help you plan your trip, and which are also designed to help you get the most out of it. Remember that you’ll possibly spend a lot of time waiting in line, you’ll be taking more pictures than humanly possible, and, above all, that Walt Disney World Resort is huge (don’t ever take “it’s a small world” too literally!). So it’s fair to say that you’ll need a helping hand!

From paper maps and mobile apps and PhotoPass to FastPass+, there’s a whole world of magic waiting. Navigate the parks with the My Disney Experience App and turn your wait times into play time with the Play Disney Parks app. “Dash” through those queues with FastPass+, use your MagicBand to make purchases, and let your digital downloads go “to infinity and beyond” with Memory Maker (your photos taken at Disney).

Where to Stay

There are many benefits to staying at a Disney Resort Hotel. These include being able to make FastPass+ bookings up to 60 days in advance (it’s 30 days for non-hotel guests), receiving free MagicBands, and activities like Movies Under the Stars. But two of the biggest benefits are being close to your preferred Disney Park and enjoying Extra Magic Hours.

A number of factors will determine which Disney Resort Hotel is suitable for you, such as cost, but there are plenty of Disney Value Resorts to choose from. You might also consider Universal Orlando Resort as part of your adventure, so check out Disney’s Good Neighbor Hotels, too. Whichever you choose, expect a world-class service – after all, you’ll “be their guest”!

The Different Tickets on Offer

Once you’ve ironed out all the above, it’s time to look at what tickets are available for entry to Walt Disney World Resort. Before you do that, though, you will of course need to have a budget in mind, and an idea of how long you want to go for. But just remember – it’s cheaper to buy multi-day tickets than singles.

Want to see all four theme parks and the water parks and experiences throughout? No problem! Want a ticket that allows up to 21 days access to all the parks? You got it! Or perhaps you’ll only want to visit for just the one day. Whatever you do, don’t forget to make other bookings in advance, such as extras like Disney Dining Plans and attractions like Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire.

Planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is all part of the fun, so by following  these tips, you may avoid getting your hair all “tangled” up in the process!

Look for Toppings Bars

Eating in Disney can get pricey fast. You can get more bang for your buck by eating at locations with toppings bars. Order a burger and pile it high with whatever is on that toppings bar. You can probably make your meal big enough to share, and even if not, at least it’ll keep you full for a while longer.  From personal experience, I have done this & it has helped us share a meal!

Split Meals

Speaking of sharing meals, meal splitting is actually a great way to save money in Disney. Many places have huge portion sizes that can easily be split between two people. If you are too hungry to share one meal between two people, consider splitting two meals between three people. Another great option is to order a pizza from the hotel food court to share, or get a family fried chicken meal to-go from Fort Wilderness.  Again, my husband and I have found that the portions are large enough to split and if we’re still hungry, we just share a desert!

Use Magical Express

If you’re flying in and staying onsite, be sure to use Magical Express. This free shuttle bus will take you from the airport to your hotel at no extra charge. This is great not only because it is free transportation, but also because it means you won’t have to pay for parking.  Another perk is that  your luggage is delivered directly to your resort room.  You do not have to wait for your luggage!!  Time saver!

Magical Express

Schedule Rest Days

Our last tip is to schedule in rest days. Park tickets are expensive, and honestly, there is plenty to do on Disney property without ever stepping foot in the parks. Therefore, you can save quite a bit of money by cutting one day off your tickets and enjoying a relaxing day by the hotel pool or exploring the many amazing Disney World resort hotels.  Also, it gives you a chance to explore Disney Springs!

Money Saving Tips For A Disney World Vacation – Part 2

Money Saving Tips For A Disney World Vacation – Part 2

Castle Money

Are you dying to go on a Disney World vacation, but need to spend a little less this time around? Many will say it can’t be done, but I beg to differ. While Disney World will never be an inexpensive vacation option, it definitely is possible to cut corners and save a bit of money here and there—something that really adds up to a lot by the time vacation is over.

So what can you do to save a few bucks while still having a blast in your favorite theme parks in the world? Well, it all starts with planning and thoughtful decisions.

Below are some of the best money saving decisions you can make before and during your trip to ensure you spend as little as possible so you get the most bang for your buck.

Shop Beforehand

Anyone who’s ever been to Disney World can tell you that the place is packed with gift shops.  Clothing items can be pricy at Disney shops.  This is great for shoppers with money burning a hole in their pocket, but not so much for those who are trying to save money. In order to avoid spending way too much money on souvenirs, purchase some gifts beforehand and dole them out throughout the trip. These gifts can be purchased from Walmart, the Disney Store Outlet, or even the dollar store for a fraction of what you’d pay in Disney World.

Grab Cheap Starbucks Cards

Every single Disney World park has a Starbucks. Once in a while, Groupon will sell Starbucks cards at half-off.  Also, there are several on-line discount gift card companies.  Discount amounts vary, so check the websites.  Watch for these deals and snatch up those discounted cards whenever possible. The cards can then be used during your trip to buy coffee, snacks, and sandwiches.

Invest in an Annual Pass

This one might seem crazy, but it can actually save you money. If you plan to visit Disney two years in a row, plan the trips to be 11 months apart. Purchase Annual Passes for the family, and your tickets will be taken care of for both trips. Not only that, you will also receive free parking and discounts on certain food, drink, and merchandise during both visits.

Drink Free Water

When on vacation, it can be tempting to treat yourself to lots of soda and alcoholic beverages. However, when you’re walking all day in the Florida heat, what your body really needs is water. Rather than opting for sweet drinks, stay hydrated and save some serious dough by drinking the free cups of water found at counter-service locations.  Another option is to buy bottled water at a local grocery store or through one of the grocery delivery services.  You can bring your own bottled water into the parks and save money by not having to purchase bottled water in the parks!

I agree that Disney World will never be an inexpensive vacation option but it definitely is possible to cut corners.  Yes, you can afford a trip by using most if not all of these money saving tips.  Have a great Disney vacation!!

Below are some suggestions of the best money saving decisions you can make before and during your trip to ensure you spend as little as possible so you get the most bang for your buck.

Go During Off Season

First and foremost, it’s important to note that prices for rooms will be significantly cheaper during the off season. Additionally, crowd levels will be lower, meaning shorter waits and thus a smaller amount of time spent in the parks (if the budget requires it). Therefore, an off-season trip is the easiest on the wallet.

Pitch a Tent

Can’t afford a room even during the off season? You might consider camping in Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. This option is great because you get all the benefits of staying on Disney property for a much smaller price. Of course, if you don’t own an RV or know anyone who’d let you borrow theirs, staying here would also mean sleeping in a tent, so depending on how you feel about that, this may or may not work for you.

Pack Food

Pack food in your suitcases, or order it to be delivered from Garden Grocers. Use this food to prepare breakfast in your room before leaving in the mornings. Additionally, pack some snacks to take with you into the parks and eat throughout the day. This will save you a significant amount of money on all those meals at Disney restaurants.

I agree that Disney World will never be an inexpensive vacation option but it definitely is possible to cut corners.  Yes, you can afford a trip by using most if not all of these money saving tips.  Have a great Disney vacation!!

whole grain

whole grain is a grain of any cereal and pseudocereal that contains the endospermgerm, and bran, in contrast to refined grains, which retain only the endosperm.

As part of a general healthy diet, consumption of whole grains is associated with lower risk of several diseases.Whole grains are a source of carbohydrates, multiple nutrients and dietary fiber.Cereals proteins have low quality, due to deficiencies in essential amino acids, mainly lysine. In contrast, the proteins of the pseudocereals have a high nutritional value.

In a small part of the general population, gluten – proteins found in wheat and related grains– can trigger coeliac diseasenon-coeliac gluten sensitivitygluten ataxia and dermatitis herpetiformis.

Whole grains are a source of multiple nutrients and dietary fiber, recommended for children and adults in several daily servings containing a variety of foods that meet whole grain-rich criteria.

By supplying high dietary fiber content, as part of a general healthy diet, consumption of whole grains is associated with lower risk of several diseases, including coronary heart diseasestrokecancer and type 2 diabetes, with lower all-cause mortality.[4][14][15] Regular whole-grain consumption lowers LDL and triglyceride levels, which contributes to an overall 26% reduction in coronary heart disease-risk factors. In addition, whole-grain consumption is inversely related to hypertensiondiabetes, and obesity when compared to refined grains, all of which are negative indicators in total cardiovascular health.

As components of breakfast cereals, whole grains are associated with improved micronutrient intake and lower risk of several diseases.Their effects on gastrointestinal health, risk of obesity and cognition need further evaluation.

Keeping grains as close to their original form as possible slows or prevents the digestion of starch, and a slower digestion is responsible for preventing spikes in blood sugar (over time spikes in blood sugar may lead to insulin resistance).

Cereals proteins have low quality, due to deficiencies in essential amino acids, mainly lysine. Supplementation of cereals with proteins from other food sources (mainly legumes) is commonly used to compensate for this deficiency, since the limitation of a single essential amino acid causes the others to break down and become excreted, which is especially important during the period of growth. In contrast, the proteins of the pseudocereals have a high nutritional value, close to those of casein (the main protein in milk). Quinoa and amaranth are the most nutritious grains due to their high content and quality of proteins, with high levels of lysine and other essential amino acids. Minor cereals and pseudocereals are a good alternative to replace gluten-containing cereals, for people who need to follow a gluten-free diet.

Manufacturers of foods containing whole grains in specified amounts are allowed a health claim for marketing purposes in the United States, stating: “low fat diets rich in fiber-containing grain products, fruits, and vegetables may reduce the risk of some types of cancer, a disease associated with many factors” and “diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol and rich in fruits, vegetables, and grain products that contain some types of dietary fiber, particularly soluble fiber, may reduce the risk of heart disease, a disease associated with many factors”. The scientific opinion of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) related to health claims on gut health/bowel function, weight control, blood glucose/insulin levels, weight management, blood cholesterol, satiety, glycaemic index, digestive function and cardiovascular health is “that the food constituent, whole grain, (…) is not sufficiently characterised in relation to the claimed health effects” and “that a cause and effect relationship cannot be established between the consumption of whole grain and the claimed effects considered in this opinion

Check Out the Queue Design

If you need to conserve battery power, don’t play Andy’s Boardgame Blast the entire time.  Guests can always just enjoy the theming within the queue. Now, Slinky Dog Dash can’t really be classified as an interactive queue, such as the likes of Seven Dwarves Mine Train or Winnie the Pooh. But there is a lot to see and enjoy. Turns out Andy is the “designer” behind Slinky Dog Dash, so it was fun to see “his” creative plans as we wound our way through the cattle crossings.

It’s A Two Person Ride

Only two people can sit in each row. In any other ride besides Barnstormer, you’re usually allowed to ride one adult with two small children. But in Slinky Dog Dash, each seat has its own adjustable lap bar rather than one that stretches the length of the row. Therefore, you must ride only two to a row. This may not be a problem for some parties, but you may have to get creative. If your group has only one adult and several children, don’t fear. You can always team up with another group that has an extra adult and have a cast member sit all of you together. Problem solved!

Image result for slinky dog dash at Disney

When you finally get through the queue and approach the coaster, you’ll see the vehicle looks just like the iconic Slinky Dog character in “Toy Story.” It seats 18 people at a time — consisting of nine rows of two.

It may not look as intimidating as other steel coasters in the Orlando area, but Slinky Dog Dash definitely has some oomph.

Right out of the gates, riders speedily accelerate up to the coaster’s highest point. It’s a bold and exciting way to start the coaster.

Midway through the coaster, the Slinky Dog stops and revs up again, blasting you uphill to a fabulous view of the construction for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge park opening in the late fall of 2019. So if any Star Wars fans are looking for a sneak-peak, definitely make sure to ride Slinky Dog.

The rest of the track weaves, drops, and glides — similar to the movements of an actual slinky toy.  The coaster is smooth and has a playful track. There are many coasters that give you whiplash, so it really is great that this one does not.

Amazing

The concensus is that Slinky Dog Dash is a ton of fun. Exclamations of “That was awesome!” and “TOTALLY worth the wait!” and “Oh my gosh that was so fun!” formed a chorus that has been heard from riders. It’s fast, and the ride is super smooth. It makes you laugh and scream all at the same time. It’s got unexpected elements and pauses to build anticipation. It’s just so good. Three cheers for Slinky Dog Dash!

The big finish of Slinky Dog Dash involves a rendition of the classic “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” by none other than a giant animatronic of everyone’s favorite singing penguin, Wheezy. He’s the perfect way to end a rather flawless coaster.  The ride lasts about two minutes.

Have you gotten a chance to ride Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios yet? What did you think?

Here’s some tips for navigating through Disney’s newest attraction, Slinky Dog Dash, located in Hollywood Studio’s Toy Story Land.  The news is that this ride is awesome!  If at all possible, get a Fast Pass.  If you are not able to get a FP, then keep a close watch on the wait times on the My Disney Experience App.

The Line Moves Quickly

The lines have been snaking their way well past the normal entrance–which is to be expected, of course. Cast members are usually standing by to help direct the crowds to where the line ends, and there are numerous umbrellas set up along the pathway to protect people from the sun. Plus, even though the line is long and probably will be for a while, the it moves quickly. Somehow this helps, doesn’t it?  If the line is constantly moving and making progress, the time goes faster.  Seems logical, right?

Disney Toy Story

You Need the Play App

The new Play Disney Parks Moblie App is a long line lifesaver!  While waiting for Slinky Dog Dash, guests are able to play Andy’s Boardgame Blast, a game on a single device for two to five players. Whoever came up with this game is a genius. Families are given a chance to work together as a team to earn points in the board game and each player got a chance to actually do the activity individually. For example, player one would be prompted do a maze challenge, then they would be asked to pass the device to player two to do the same maze challenge. So there should be no crowding around or fighting about who got to press buttons. Everyone knows their turn is coming up. Plus, the game is able to mix up the order so player one is not always the first player. Other challenges include taking photos and “dressing them up” with silly stickers, crazy bowling, and more.

Slinky Dog Dash is great for the whole family but still provides a notable thrill factor.  Overall, Slinky Dog Dash is a really exciting new coaster, with adorable theming and is definitely worth the long hot wait.

Have you gotten a chance to ride Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios yet? What did you think?
