Healing gemstones

Throughout history, there have been many myths and legends associated with birthstones. Many cultures have believed that birthstones have magical healing powers or bring good luck. Not all cultures have agreed on which stones correspond to which months, though, so you can find different lists of birthstones over the course of time.

Today, most jewelers work with the same list. Here are some basics, January is Garnet, Garnet is believed to provide safety during travels.

February is the Amethyst. Amethyst is thought to bring courage to the wearer.

March is Aquamarine. Aquamarines have been associated with certain healing powers.

August is Peridot. Peridot symbolizes strength and is referred to as the evening emerald because of its light green color that seems to show off its brilliance at night.

September is the Sapphire, Sapphires are thought to ward off evil as well, especially poisoning.

October is Opal. Opal represents faithfulness and confidence.

November is Topaz. Topaz has long been associated with love and affection.

Among the birthstones, the following seem to have the highest powers of healing.


Garnet
 – Aids blood, heart, and lungs and is known to promote romantic love, passion, sensuality, and intimacy. Amethyst aids in the reduction of insomnia, arthritis, pain relief, and circulatory issues. Amethyst is considered the gemstone of meditation, peace, courage, balance, and inner strength. Aquamarine aids liver, eyes, ears, jaw, teeth, stomach and throat. It is also thought to have a calming effect on the nerves and bringing about mental clarity. Ruby aiding the emotions is the calling card for Ruby. Increases integrity, emotion, and happiness. Pearl is known for its calming properties and to aid in purity, charity, integrity, truth, and loyalty in its wearer. Peridot heals stress in relationships, and lessening anger and jealousy, and slowing aging, the Peridot promotes abundance and prosperity. Sapphire is known for giving inner peace, creative expression, and meditation.  the Sapphire also aids in personal expression and the alleviation of pain. Topaz is one of the most powerful gemstones. Topaz facilitates the balance of emotions and provides protection from greed. Turquoise is a gemstone steeped in lore and tradition. It is a healing and balancing stone.

Healing powers in gemstones has been here since the beginning of time and even today countless numbers of individuals believe wholeheartedly that gemstones have the power to heal, so this concept did not disappear and continues to fascinate people.

Gemstones have fascinated people for a variety of reasons, the beauty when set in jewelry, or collectors of gemstones, or going on a gem dig and find your own gemstones. For me, it still amazes me that these glorious colored minerals and crystals are found in our own earth like a buried treasure, which they truly are.
